Hours: 6 hours per week; various day, evening, and weekend hours available

The tasks assigned typically involve handling donated materials and displaying them for sale on shelves in an efficient manner. Volunteers are expected to perform assigned tasks which are usually carried out under little supervision.

Examples of work:

• Sort and shelve materials for sale accurately and efficiently
• Review shelved library materials to ensure accuracy of placement
• Maintain order and attractiveness of book sale areas through displaying, balancing, edging, and shifting materials
• Perform other tasks of a similar nature as assigned

• Sorting LEGO Mindstorms parts
• Finding out-of-order picture books in the children’s area
• Putting together take-home craft kits
• Creating a list of recommended graphic novels for 5-8th graders
• Filling a display shelf with historical fiction chapter books

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be 11-17 years of age
• Ability to follow all library rules, behavior policy, and the internet policy
• Ability to be respectful of all library staff and patrons
• Punctuality/reliability/ability to communicate about schedule
